Founded in 1973, CPDOC owns one of the biggest archives in contemporary history of Brazil, composed by the Program of Personal Archives and by the Oral History Program. In 2019 we organized the 6th edition of the \"Workshop for Audiovisual Productions.\" The Workshop was created with the goal to approach the archival collection of CPDOC to a public that is not very familiar to the documentation world and its practices. The historical language of archives represents a challenge in terms of its use in cinematographic productions, since the aesthetics presented in the construction of the filmic language represents a different nature from the constitution of the documents of the archive, both textual and the historical oral narratives.With the Workshop, we experienced the documentary cinema presenting itself as a space of possibilities in terms of propagation of historic content. The Workshop seeks to explore these potentialities, stimulating new gazes and raising new questions upon the documental material.
